I was trying to get started as a journalist and was offered a job by a drinks magazine, this wasn't my goal as I then thought that drinks were for drinking not for writing about, but very quickly I found the drinks industry a fascinating place to be and became interested in every aspect, production, marketing, distribution, pr, as they all need each other, then I went freelance and focussed on production details and more recently I'm fascinated by the process of how the brain, olfactory and palate work together to identify aromas and flavours.
